STAR OF MARWAN, latest in a long line of GOLD WOOD FARM National Champions and the first to be home-bred, has taken her place in the GOLD WOOD FARM broodmare band. Plans are to breed the chestnut beauty in 2008 to a short list of legendary stallions. Her first foals will be sired by the Leading Sire of Winning Halter Horses in the United States … Magnum Psyche (Padrons Psyche x  A Fancy Miracle). Magnum Psyche is the sire of 42 national and reserve national champion offspring at the U.S. and Canadian National Championships. Magnum Psyche had 28 national winners at the 2007 U.S. National Championships. 
    Perhaps most intriguing is the possibility of a foal for STAR OF MARWAN from a breeding to four-time national champion and leading Arabian sire, Khemosabi, via frozen semen. This is something that is being attempted with the blessing of both the Husband family and Virginia Wood. 
   “It’s rather a long shot,” Pidge notes, “but we’re hopeful that ‘Star’ will have this foal by Khemosabi, in addition to the more traditional offspring she will be expecting. Believe me, there is a great deal of interest in this foal.”
   Khemosabi died on March 1, 2001. He was the sire of over 1250 foals and is considered by many to be among the greatest of all American-born purebred Arabian horses.

GW Margurite, GW Marvella,
GW Marengo and Psabrina are Sold!

The handsome 2005 daughter of *Marwan Al Shaqab and the mare Donna El Jamaal by Ali Jamaal, GW Margurite, her paternal half-sister, GW Marvella (x GG Gwen by Greengate Galero), and her paternal half-brother, GW Marengo (x Sabrienaa by ZT Faa Iq) have been sold. Their stablemate, the lovely five-year-old chestnut mare Psabrina (Padrons Psyche x GW Natorious Star) has also recently found a new home. GW Margurite was purchased by Eva Rivers of Kila, Montana, GW Marengo was bought locally by Helen Colins of Phoenix, Arizona, and both Marvella and Psabrina went home to California with Judy and Chris Brown of La Habra. The five-year-old Psabrina was sold with a breeding to Bob and Dixie North’s outstanding sire, *Sir Fames HBV (*Ffamess x Cajun Lady HCF by *Cajun Prince HCF). GW Marvella has had a spectacular 2007 show season with Chris Brown at the lead. Just two, in 2007 she was a Class A Show Champion Mare and took Top Fives at Region 2, Region 1 and the Pacific Slopes!

Adhaba Al Shaqab now belongs to HH The Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, owner of her beautiful National and World Champion Sire, *Marwan Al Shaqab.  The Emir visited Gold Wood Farm and selected the filly, who is a full sister to the 2007 Canadian and U.S. National Champion Futurity Filly, Star of Marwan. A bay full brother, foaled May 21, 2007 has also been purchased by the Emir and named Faraa Al Shaqab. Trainer Michael Byatt was the agent for both transactions.
